We were drawn to Fernie by our son’s interest in his own adventure, and we very quickly felt the warmth of the Fernie community. We dropped in to the Fernie Real Estate Company, just for a look. Jacqueline Fieldhouse was working that day in October 2017 and welcomed us into her office. We shared our stories of what brought each of us to Fernie, Jacqueline highlighted that people come to Fernie for the winters and stay for the summers. She spoke fondly of the people, the active community and all of its beauty. We parted company and over the next few months Jacqueline kept us informed about opportunities. She appreciated that we were not serious buyers but simply interested, the attention she paid us was timely and just enough. She patiently answered our questions and fine tuned the selected properties. Fast forward to February, 2018 we again visited Fernie and again dropped in to see Jacqueline. This time we expressed an interest in a particular area, she promised to look for opportunities. A couple of weeks after returning to our home, Jacqueline connected and shared the details of a property we were interested in. We gave it much thought. Six months prior, we had no intention of having a go-to place anywhere, let alone Fernie B.C., a few provinces away. Jacqueline appreciated our angst listened with interest to our questions, and was incredibly patient with our indecision. Her genuine interest in us making a decision that was good for us was a quality that we both valued in Jacqueline.
We made the purchase, Jacqueline explained in great detail the process, provided any and all information in a timely manner and was incredibly supportive. She went above and beyond when she was present to allow, on our behalf, for contractors to visit our place.
In the end, we are very excited to see the transformation of our place in Fernie and look forward to many years ahead of hiking and riding the trailings, skiing and snowshoeing the terrain and meeting new people and enjoying all that Fernie has to offer. We really do owe a big thank you to our son, for getting us out there and to Jacqueline Fieldhouse for getting us to stay!
